An opportunity has arisen for one whole time Consultant Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeon to join the team at the Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The post will be divided between the Sheffield Children’s Hospital and Northern General Hospital in Sheffield and the contract of employment will be held with Sheffield Children’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The planned Appointment Advisory Committee panel for this post is scheduled for Friday 22nd September.

The successful applicant will join a team of four existing surgeons undertaking paediatric spinal surgery at Sheffield Children’s Hospital with these Consultants also working at the Northern General Hospital where 4 additional Consultant Spinal Surgeons also work exclusively in the adult sector.

Experience in complex / reconstructive adult and paediatric spinal surgery is essential in order to fully support the unit in dealing with deformity, trauma, infection and tumour cases as well as degenerative work. The post-holder will be required to take part in a spinal on call rota for both adult and paediatric spinal emergencies which is a 1 in 8 on this appointment. There is no commitment to general orthopaedic surgery or general trauma.
