You will be part of an expanding team of highly professional and dedicated staff whose aim is to provide an excellent, patient focussed service.

The ever growing and expanding service is looking for motivated individuals to assist in building healthier lives for our patients, by developing the aseptic service which is critical to the treatment of our oncology and haematology patients.

The role will include a variety of tasks, enabling you to develop your knowledge and skills through structured education and training opportunities. It provides a rewarding opportunity to assist in the preparation of cytotoxic drugs, monoclonal antibodies and innovative treatments such as clinical trials.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
Assistant technical officers assist in the production of aseptically prepared products within the unit. The role includes the following tasks:

- Stock management
- Assembly of raw materials
- Transferring products into the unit
- Aseptic preparation in isolators
- Cleaning of the unit
- Performing validations
- Dispensing ready-made products
- Despatching products for delivery
- Using computer systems
- Completing documentation

Positions are available at Melchett Road Aseptic Unit, B30 3HS.

Full training will be provided to ensure you feel confident in this role. This includes an in-house training pack as well as the opportunity to attend external courses.

Opportunities for career progression are also available with Band 4 Specialist Assistant Technical Officer positions available in the aseptic unit.

**Qualifications**:
**Essential**:

- GCSE grade C or above in Mathematics and English (or equivalent)

**Desirable**:

- NVQ level 2 Certificate in Pharmacy Service Skills (QCF) and BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Pharmaceutical Science

Or

Accredited Dispensing Assistants Course

**Experience**:
**Essential**:

- Evidence of previous work experience relevant to the position such as warehouse or stores, reception duties etc
- Evidence of experience within a team environment
- Experienced in customer relations
- Understanding of Health and Safety at Work, manual handling and COSHH
- Understanding of dispensing, stock control and supply systems and processes

**Desirable**:

- Previous experience within a pharmacy setting
- Knowledge of hospital environment
- Knowledge of pharmacy environment
- Understanding of pharmacy related computer systems
- Experience in staff training
- Experience working in an aseptic services setting

**Additional Criteria**:

- Able to identify customer needs and deliver services to the required level
