**Job summary**:
The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) provides the science inside UK defence and security with around 5000 employees working as part of the Ministry of Defence (MOD), across government and with industry and academia to deliver operational advantage for the UK.
We’re looking for a professional Events Officer who will bring pace and energy, along with strong collaboration and planning skills, to sit within the Dstl Communications Team, delivering strategic events for our staff and stakeholders.
You’ll advise on how best to demonstrate the impact of our work and show how Dstl is a great place to work.
From in-house awards ceremonies to trade shows, you will manage and deliver a variety of events, manage the Dstl presence at external events and capture feedback to ensure key objectives are met.
Reporting into the Events Manager, you will work closely with other members of the Communications team, and across the organisation, coordinating messages and content for events.

**The Events Officer role will require travel to various corporate events with potential overnight stays.**
**Job description**:
**In this role you will**:
- Plan, lead and deliver strategically important events for Dstl as directed by the Events Manager
- Ensure that the event content is coherent with the strategic intent, and that an agreed aim, scope and purpose for each event is implemented
- Work with Communications colleagues to ensure events promotion or collateral, such as event materials and website content, is appropriate
- Implement feedback mechanisms in order to continuously improve events
- Provide ad hoc support to the wider Dstl business on events delivery
**Person specification**:
**We are looking for someone who has**:
- Proven experience in organising and delivering internal and external events such as Town Halls, exhibitions and virtual events
- Experience supporting and building relationships with senior leaders and key stakeholders
- Experience of events marketing, providing targeted communications to different stakeholders and key audiences
- Awareness of the latest developments in events technology
- Excellent co-ordination and influencing skills, with excellent attention to detail
- Evidence of excellent planning skills and experience
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- The desire to showcase Dstl to best effect through excellence in strategic engagements and good attention to detail
- Ability to manage competing priorities and hit deadlines to time, quality and budget
- Ability to work across both internal and external comms teams

This role will require full UK security clearance and you should have resided in the UK for the past 5 years. For some roles Developed Vetting will also be required, in this case you should have resided in the UK for the past 10 years.
