**Job summary**:
The responsibilities for the Department for Science, Innovation & Technology for 2023 are as follows:

For 2023, our priorities are:

- Optimise public R&D investment to support areas of relative UK strength and increase the level of private R&D to make our economy the most innovative in the world.
- Promote a diverse research and innovation system that connects discovery to new companies, growth and jobs - including by delivering world-class physical and digital infrastructure (such as gigabit broadband), making the UK the best place to start and grow a technology business and developing and attracting top talent.
- Put our public services - including the NHS and schools - at the forefront of innovation, championing new ways of working and the development of in-house STEM capability to improve outcomes for people.
- Strengthen international collaboration on science and technology in line with the Integrated Review, and ensure our researchers are able to continue to work with leading scientists in Europe and around the world.
- Deliver key legislative and regulatory reforms to drive competition and promote innovation, including the Data Protection and Digital Information Bill, the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumer Bill and our pro-innovation approach to regulating AI.

**Job description**:
**The role and our team**

The Strategy, Planning and Insights team (SPI) plays a critical role in the interface between policy and delivery, translating the department’s priorities into delivery strategies. The team supports Ministers and the department to develop their vision, objectives, and priorities for the Department; anticipates policy risks and opportunities; and provides advice for cross-cutting ‘set piece’ events. The team also leads on the provision of strategic oversight for fiscal events, coordinates the legislative programme across DSIT and maintains a strong relationship with No10, Cabinet Office and the Treasury.

Due to business requirements this post is full-time, flexible working and job share are available.

**Key responsibilities**

The Strategy, Planning and Insights team (SPI) delivers the Secretary of States priorities including through fiscal events. To do that, SPI works closely with the department (including Executive Board and policy teams) and those outside the department (engaging with HMT, Cabinet Office, Number 10 and other government departments).

Fiscal events are the way the department secures its funding and are a key mechanism for shaping and delivering on the DSIT policy agenda. This role sits at the heart of the department, leading on advising and preparing Ministers and the department on fiscal events. This includes Autumn and Spring fiscal events and the Spending Review 2024.

You will project manage the fiscal events process, drawing on the expertise of the wider SPI team, ensuring DSIT and wider Government cross-cutting priorities are fed into planning.

Successes in this role will see you:
Becoming an expert in the fiscal event process and driving the department’s fiscal events strategy - advising Ministers, Executive Board and the wider department on DSIT’s approach to fiscal events, and managing dependencies with other high-profile and linked wo
