Technical Senior Analyst
About the Position:
Hours Per Week: 37
Shifts: Monday to Friday, 08.30am - 16.30pm
Basis: Permanent
We are currently recruiting for a Technical Senior Analyst to work in our Specials section at Hawarden.
Specific Accountabilities & Key Performance Indicators:

- Validation of analytical methods
- Responsible for instrument repair and maintenance schedule
- Ensure that analytical methods are performing effectively and efficiently
- Audit methods as part of the UKAS 17025 programme
- Interpretation and reporting of analytical data
Position Duties and Scope:

- Troubleshoot and demonstrate analytical problem-solving skills
- Undertake method development and validation projects from start to write up
- In-depth knowledge of instrument software
- Work with the Quality Manager on PT scheme performance
- Represent ALS on external technical groups as appropriate
- Contribute to capital expenditure requirements
- Investigate and report on non-conforming work
- Monitor and reduce rework to statistical minimum
- Identify and organise team training requirements in methodology and procedures to ensure ongoing
- competency
- Provide advice/assistance with queried results
- Investigate and complete client complaint investigations
- Undertake investigations into staff deviations away from procedure
- Review processes and offer advice on productivity
- Support team members enabling them to hit OHP targets
- Undertake control chart reviews
- Meet all 16 CPD criteria each year
Occupational Health & Safety Responsibilities:

- Adhere to Health and Safety and Company policies and procedures
- Proactively raise Health and Safety issues
- To work with the Team Leader to improve the safety, environment and general health of the staff
- To comply with the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements
- To report any near-misses or incident to the line manager
- Support Health and Safety reps with risk assessments
- Consider Health and Safety impacts of innovation and method development

Position Requirements:

- Minimum of degree or equivalent
- Significant laboratory experience including method development
- Experience of proficiency testing schemes
- Experience in training and assessing competency
- In-depth knowledge of analytical and instrumentation techniques
- Technical background with ability to troubleshoot instruments
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills
- Good IT skills
- Comprehensive understanding of Quality Management System
- Evaluate critically and draw conclusions from scientific and other data
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise your own work and others in the team
- Attention to detail and the ability to keep accurate records
