**THE ROLE**:
Join us as our **Data Protection Officer** within our Legal Team.

In this role you will advise and inform the EV Cargo Group on data protection and privacy laws throughout all of the jurisdictions within which the Group operates.

Ensure compliance with all applicable data protection and privacy laws and regulations through the creation, implementation and maintenance of data protection policies and procedures for all EV Cargo Group companies which shall include the regular assessments and audits of such policies and procedures.

**THE SALARY**:
Up to £50,000 dependant on experience with car allowance.

**WHERE YOU WILL BE BASED**:
This role will be remote with some requirement to travel to our offices.

**KEY RESPONISBILITES**:

- Tracking the lifecycle of personal data within the Group and the risks associated with processing it
- Understanding how laws such as GDPR interface with other privacy laws which the Group is bound
- Creation and implementation of data protection and privacy policies and procedures for the EV Cargo Group
- Monitoring and auditing of systems, processes, and procedures to ensure compliance with data protection and privacy policies, procedures, laws and regulations
- Reporting to the EV Cargo board with regard to monitoring and identification of risks and issues, plus legal updates relating to data protection and privacy
- Provision of advice, instructions, and assistance on how to conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs)
- Performing Data Protection Impact Assessments for new and existing systems
- Participation in commercial contract negotiations, including reviewing data protection and privacy provisions and assisting with the drafting of relevant clauses, to ensure compliance with data protection and privacy laws and regulations including the production, implementation, and maintenance of template Data Processing Agreements
- Responding to data protection and privacy breaches internally and externally including liaison with the relevant authority such as the ICO
- Acting as point of contact and liaison with Data Subjects, supervisory authorities, internal teams, suppliers and any other third party who processes data on behalf of the EV Cargo Group
- Responding to Subject Access Requests including the compilation of SAR responses and liaison with the Data Subjects and ensuring that the EV Cargo Group addresses all queries from Data Subjects within legal timeframes
- Participation in meetings with managers to ensure privacy by design at all levels
- Maintenance of records of processing operations
- Training, on data protection and privacy laws and regulations for employees, officers and stakeholders
- Keeping up to date with changes in data protections and privacy laws and regulations and follow up with changes and issue recommendations to ensure compliance

**WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?**

Degree level education and a professional qualification preferred not essential

Experience in Data Protection and Legal Compliance

Familiarity with computer security systems

Experience in handling confidential information

Ethical, with the ability to remain impartial and to ensure the reporting of all non-compliances

Expert knowledge of data protection and privacy laws and regulations

Excellent communication skills, spoken and written

Build good working relationships with work colleagues and our customers

Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team

Excellent attention to detail, friendly and helpful nature

Proven ability to prioritise workloads and meet tight deadlines

Highly organised and able to handle difficult situations

Proven ability to work on own initiative

Strong PC Literacy including Word & Excel

**Desirable**:
Extensive experience in a privacy and/or compliance related risk management position

Proficient in the field of Project Management

Knowledge of data processing operations in the company’s sector
