Principal Planning Officer Regeneration

Working on behalf of a Local Authority, Aatom Recruitment has an opportunity for Principal Planning Officer on a 3 month contract with a possibility of an extension.
This position will be a total of 35 hours per week, with hours from 09:00am - 17:00pm.
**Job Purpose**:
**Job Specific Accountabilities**:
- Pre
- Undertake consultations and liaise with other Services, statutory consultees, community groups, private groups and members of the public.
- Dealing with planning related enquiries in person, by telephone, or in writing.
- Remain up to date and knowledgeable of relevant legislation and case law, using that knowledge in dealing with planning work.
- Assisting in the operation and maintenance of the Service's computer-based and associated data-based planning information systems.
- To attend committee, estate regeneration meetings or Councillor briefing sessions as and when required.
- To actively contribute to the on-going review and improvement of services within Planning and to keep abreast of changes to planning legislation and lead in the introduction of new or amend existing processes and procedures.
- Maintain knowledge of the current Team Plan and understanding of own contribution in order to ensure delivery of this plan.
**Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience**:
- A planning degree and eligibility for membership of the RTPI
- Undertake on-going CPD (consistent with RTPI recommendations)
- Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service, which may include some working outside of the usual business hours.
- Full clean driving licence.
- Experience of dealing with estate regeneration development.
- Some experience of presenting at planning committee meetings or public meetings.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write reports clearly and concisely for a variety of audiences, and to demonstrate the ability to influence and persuade.
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload, and work on own initiative.
- Knowledge and understanding of planning related legislation.
- Excellent ICT skills, including the ability to use service specific software (e.g. Ocella, Onyx, GIS).
- An understanding of Local Government Planning procedures.
