Oxford, United Kingdom University of Oxford Full time

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in bioinorganic chemistry/synthetic coordination chemistry. The position will be supervised by Professor Stephen Faulkner as part of the ‘Chemical biology tools for investigating the chemistry of REDOX stress’ under a Programme Grant. This Programme brings together 9 academic groups, located across the University of Oxford and King’s College London, and industrial partners including GSK and GE Healthcare. The aim of the Programme is to develop tools to image and study the REDOX environment in cells, tissues and
_in vivo,_ using a range of imaging modalities, to better understand and predict disease.

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will join the Programme Grant team and be responsible for the design and synthesis of small molecule probes for imaging the cellular REDOX environment. They will be involved in the design, synthesis, and initial
_in vitro_ evaluation of metal complexes as chemical probes of the REDOX environment (addressable by MRI, luminescence and PET).

Applicants must hold a PhD in synthetic chemistry (or have submitted prior to starting the position). The research will require expertise in synthetic coordination chemistry and/or bioinorganic chemistry. You will be expected to manage your own academic research and administrative activities. The post will require small-scale project management to co-ordinate multiple aspects of the project to meet deadlines.

This is a full-time position, Grade 7 (£34,308 - £42,155 per annum), available immediately, for 18 months, with the possibility for extension.

The post will be based primarily in the Chemistry Research Laboratory, Department of Chemistry, Mansfield Road, Oxford, OX1 3TA.
