We are seeking Postdoctoral Research Associates who will work in the Department of Materials at the University of Oxford, under the supervision of Professor Mauro Pasta and in collaboration with one of the Oxford Materials SOLBAT or LiSTAR research teams. These projects currently run until 31 March 2025.

We are looking for researchers with expertise, proven by a strong publication record, in one or preferably more of the following areas:

- electrochemistry, preferably solid-state ( including EIS and electrochemical modelling)
- solid state electrolytes synthesis
- characterisation of air and beam sensitive materials and interfaces in solid-state batteries including:

- electron microscopy (eg cryogenic FIB/SEM and HR-TEM, spectroscopy and sample preparation)
- in-situ chemical techniques (e.g., differential electrochemical mass spectroscopy)
- in-situ and operando X-ray techniques (eg XPS, XRD, computed X-ray tomography

We are looking for well organised and self-motivated scientists, with the ability to manage the day-to-day running of a research project, to identify research objectives and to carry out appropriate research activities within a given timescale, demonstrating the ability to work co-operatively with colleagues in an extremely fast-paced and intellectually stimulating environment.

The post holder will also provide guidance to less experienced members of the research group, including postdocs, research assistants, technicians, PhD and project students.

Working in collaboration with several other universities, we are working on understanding the fundamental issues for Solid State Lithium-metal and Lithium-Sulphur batteries.

Interviews are scheduled to take place at the Department of Materials on the 1st March and you must be available on this date, either by Teams or in person. Please note in normal circumstances only interview travel expenses within the UK will be reimbursed.
