**Salary: £21,000 pa**

**Job Summary**:
This exciting new role will be a mixture of outreach work and training/hub based work.

The Harm Reduction Lived Experience Worker will work alongside the substance misuse and treatment services, including their harm reduction teams, and the wider Red Rose
Recovery teams to identify beneficiaries with complex and multiple challenges.

The post holder will promote harm reduction and benefits of treatment to those beneficiaries to understand the risks of new and emerging substances and to share information about any risks identified, including drug alerts.

They will attend and support Lancashire User Forum meetings to inform the community of our harm reduction initiatives and drug alerts, and to consult with the LUF and other service user groups, to ensure we meet the needs of the community.

The postholder will also be expected to support the Training and Development Lead in the development and implementation of harm reduction training initiatives.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- The lived experience worker will target service users with complex and multiple challenges and promote Harm Reduction Services and treatment to them.
- By using your own experience of going through treatment and recovery you will identify alcohol and drug users who would benefit from Harm Reduction Services
- You will refer those identified above to substance use and treatment services as appropriate
- You will be a positive role model helping to understand, inspire, motivate, guide and support our service users to engage with services and work on their recovery.
- You will evidence and show visible recovery; showing that change is possible.
- You will offer emotional and practical support to our service-users, by using your own lived experience of the treatment system and the challenges and fears this can create which will enable them to achieve a positive future

Harm Reduction Services including accompanying individuals to medical appointments e.g., Hepatitis C/TB appointments.
- The lived experience worker will distribute to those identified above harm reduction information and equipment e.g., Naloxone.
- The lived experience worker will integrate and work closely with community-based teams. These teams include but are not limited to adult & young people substance use treatment organisations, Liver Treatment services and primary and secondary health services to support Harm Reduction.
- The lived experience worker will engage service users in a conversation around risk taking behaviours
- Provide tailored harm reduction advice & information
- Deliver naloxone training to service users alongside HR team
- Promote take home Naloxone to service users and key stakeholders
- Support the RRR team with key campaigns like overdose awareness day, Hep C awareness days, etc.
- Develop, deliver and participate fully in training packages specific to role
- Record service user contact and keep accurate peer records
- Attend regular Trauma Informed supervisions to reflect on peer support and share good practice

**General responsibilities**:

- Ensure health and safety compliance at all times
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
- Adhere to all relevant policies and procedures, including safeguarding.
- Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with service providers, commissioners, stakeholders and other partner agencies.
- Be an advocate for Lancashire User Forum and Red Rose Recovery
- Remain up to date and compliant with mandatory training requirements.
- Work in accordance with all Red Rose Recovery policies and procedures.
- To undertake other duties commensurate to the grade of the post
- The postholder must have a valid, full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle during working hours.

- Increased number of Hepatitis C treatment commencements and completions
- Increased distribution of Naloxone
- Reduction in Drug Related Death rates in Lancashire.

**Vetting and Clearances**:

- The post holder is expected to have Enhanced DBS clearance.
- Any changes that may affect DBS status may result in termination of post.
