Early Careers Specialist- Eso

Warwick, United Kingdom National Gas Full time

**About the role**:

- Great Britain's electricity system is undergoing an ambitious, exciting and vital transformation. Together with industry, we are creating a cleaner, greener system, one that protects the planet and serves generations to come.- Reporting to the Early Careers Manager, the Early Careers Specialist leads on the learning design and delivery across the NESO’s Early Careers programmes. The role supports the development of the learning strategy for early careers programmes (e.g., Graduates, Apprenticeships, Industrial Placements, Power Academy, Interns, Formal Work Experience and Employability), oversees the delivery (including through managed service providers). You will manage the effective induction of new talent recruits and the day-to-day pastoral care to ensure they have appropriate support, as they start their careers at the NESO.- This role can be based from Wokingham or Warwick, and we continue to offer hybrid working from office and home.**About us**:

- At National Grid Electricity System Operator (ESO), we’re aiming to operate a zero-carbon electricity system for Great Britain by 2025. This means using wind, solar and hydropower - without relying on any carbon-based generators to balance the grid.**Becoming the Future System Operator**
In Summer of 2024, the ESO will transition to becoming the National Energy System Operator, or NESO for short. Previously denoted as the Future System Operator (or FSO), the new National Energy System Operator will be the independent body responsible for planning Great Britain’s electricity and gas networks and operating the electricity system.- The ESO, including all of its existing roles, will be at the heart of the new National Energy System Operator. As NESO, we will build on our existing roles, capabilities, and ways of working significantly to create an organisation the energy system and its users’ need. Our new capabilities will enable us to look across vectors, including electricity, natural gas and hydrogen, and crucially consider the trade-offs between them.- The organisation will be set up as a public corporation with its own Board of independent directors, with complete operational independence from government, the regulator and any and all commercial interest. As the ESO are today, NESO will be licenced and regulated by Ofgem through price control agreements and obligated to identify optimal solutions to system operations and planning in the most sustainable, affordable and secure way for all.- The time to deliver is now. As part of our team, you won’t just be touching the lives of almost everyone in Great Britain - you’ll be shaping the way we use and consume energy for generations to come.**Key accountabilities**:

- Supporting the Early Careers Manager, in the ongoing development and evolution of the Early Careers strategy for the FSO (Specialising in an early careers scheme). This includes the design of learning curriculums and delivery approaches.
- Overseeing the selection process, onboarding / implementation, and ongoing management of learning managed service providers (MSPs), ensuring that the FSO benefits from MSPs that deliver a reliable, cost-efficient, and value-adding service.
- Providing proactive programmatic management to colleagues learning including, performance tracking, objective setting, managing module flows, measuring the success of learning initiatives.
- Working with colleagues across the People function and in liaison with the Talent and Capability Specialist to ensure that workforce and capability gap analysis is incorporated in future learning programme design and roll-out for New Talent.
- Leading on the design and delivery of all early careers keeping warm activities, inductions, welcome days and graduating events for the FSO.
- Working with the business to deliver all pastoral care to those on programme to ensure targets and performance is on track and manage any concerns / wellbeing issues. For our apprenticeship scheme this is enhanced to provide safeguarding provisions for individuals on scheme.
- Work with key stakeholders within the business to identify internal and external placements needed for a specific programme.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the design, implementation, and subsequent ongoing enhancements of the FSO’s early careers learning pathway processes.
- Provide support, guidance and training to placement managers who are supporting the development of people on our early careers schemes. Provide support to the Early Careers Recruiter at careers fairs and during the assessment centres.**About you**:

- What we do isn’t just important - it’s essential. That’s why we look to recruit experts in their field. In this case, we’re looking for someone who has:
- Strong experience of designing, implementing, and managing learning programmes.
- Experience of either early career’s programmes or apprenticeship schemes.
- Strong attention to detail orientation and ab
