Trainee Payroll Assistant

Wilkinson and Associates are delighted to be partnering with a new organisation looking to recruit two Payroll Assistants to join their busy finance team.
You will ensure that all data is accurately input into the relevant payroll system in order to allow one weekly and two monthly payrolls with a total of approximately 4400 employees to be paid on time.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Responsible for preparation, collation, extraction and presentation of information required for a variety of complex calculations to ensure that payments are met within the agreed time scales
- This includes Maternity Leave of Absence, new start, changes, leavers, holiday pay and sick pay calculations
- Help and maintain data extraction from legacy system to new ERP (Oracle) system, to work closely with payroll Team leader to help migrate data to the new system
- Maintaining a full, sound knowledge and understanding of payroll and pension regulations, keeping up to date with the constant ongoing changes
- Dealing with a range of payroll enquiries (both internal and external), communicating confidently and effectively, using initiative to resolve them
- Responsible for carrying out a number of quality assurance checks on the accuracy of forms (including timesheets, expenses, overtime and import sheets)
- Lead responsibility for inputting a high volume of claim forms to ensure that payments are met within the agreed timescales
- Responsible for checking data which has been input to the system to ensure that this is correct and amending if necessary
- Entering and checking accuracy of data in order to maintain and update management information systems to produce records
- Working with other colleagues in the HR/Payroll team in relation to the review and development of streamlining HR/Payroll processes as and when required
Experience Required:
- Previous finance or office experience
- Graduate within finance or business
- Excellent IT skills
- Excellent communication skills - both written and oral
- Experienced Team worker who is customer focused with excellent numeracy skills
- Discretion and confidentiality required
Salary and Benefits:
£22,000 - £23,500
Excellent pension contribution
Excellent annual leave
Hybrid - one day per week in office
Monday - Friday 9-5
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: £22,000.00-£23,500.00 per year
