Job Introduction
Heritage Portfolio has a vacancy for an operational leader to join our talented staff community and become the **Head of Operations at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh**. The Royal Botanic Garden is a key venue within the Scotland portfolio and will offer you the opportunity to use your professional expertise to contribute to the success of one of Edinburgh’s most prestigious venues, as this role will drive commercial success and implement service excellence across all elements of the contract.

You will support the Operations Director in the development of business strategy in line with current and emerging client needs, including the roll out of the strategic project plans. Using your highly developed leadership skills and operational knowledge you will manage and motivate a high performing team to the agreed optimum standards ensuring that the client receives services of the highest quality.

Main Responsibilities
You will:

- Take overall responsibility for ensuring that the contract is operated within its contractual terms, have a unit business plan which is regularly showing key objectives, goals and measures that link to the overall business plan and strategy and continuous improvement
- Maximise the profitability of the contract within area of responsibility and deliver the required results
- Lead and maintain account development plans, as well as supporting the change management process and associated Service Levels Agreements (SLAs) ensuring risks are mitigated
- Ensure that health and safety is given the number one priority by delivering all Safeguard administration in advance of and during logístical operations. Lead where appropriate, and take part in management and employee briefings to deliver safety information to include; Food Safety, Health and Safety, Fire Safety, First Aid and any statutory, client or venue specific safety requirements
- Manage the soft FM contract in line with agreed management fees and cleaning SLAs agreed with the client to improve our client relationship and to positively impact the customer experience
- Take overall responsibility for ensuring the contract performs to budget and achieve their unit business plans and improve financial performance utilising nominated suppliers, maximising labour productivity in line with Company models, policies and procedures and controlling costs
- Ensure high levels of client engagement via demonstrably strong relationships built on mutual respect and trust
- Ensure all standards in the operational audits are effectively passed by the business units such as Safeguard, Unit Business Health Checks and Mystery Shops
- Take overall responsibility for ensuring the contract performs to budget and achieve their unit business plans and improve financial performance utilising nominated suppliers, maximising labour productivity in line with Company models, policies and procedures and controlling costs

You will have experience in managing high foot fall visitor attractions and extensive experience in delivering public retail and high-quality hospitality operations.

Essentially you will:

- Have proven experience in managing P&L accounts and driving profitability
- Have a background in conference and events sales
- Have proven operational knowledge, skills and experience in managing multi-site/multi service operations
- Highly developed verbal and non-verbal communication skills
- Experience in the management of large and diverse teams
- Have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with customers, clients and employees at all levels
- Have the ability to interpret and utilise complex and varied financial and commercial information

Desirable
- Previous experience of working in a tourist attraction environment
- IOSH managing safely qualification
- CIEH Level 3 qualification
