**The posts available are**:
OOP and Trainee Engagement Fellow

Supported Return to Training (SuppoRTT) Fellows (East & West Midlands)

OOP and Trainee Engagement Fellow

NHS-E Midlands looks after one of the most diverse groups of doctors in training throughout the UK. PGDiT involvement and engagement is fundamental to improving the training experience. PGDiT also get opportunity to take time out of programme (OOP) to develop additional skills and pursue areas of interest to further their professional career. The OOP opportunity has existed for years; however, there is limited evidence of the evaluation of the process and wider benefit for the individual and the wider healthcare.

This fellowship provides an opportunity to explore and evaluate various aspects of OOP within the West Midlands (if possible wider midlands). Fellows may be PGDiT on OOP or PGDiT who have opted to work flexibly in their training programme or doctors taking time between foundation and core training or core training and higher training.

The project will have two workstreams.
- To explore qualitatively and quantitatively the OOP working with the Programmes team and other functional team at NHS-E Midlands
- To explore various intervention to improve trainee engagement and improving communication

This Fellowship post is for 12 months and reports to the CMO whilst working closely with the Director of Medical Education (DME) and the Associate Postgraduate Dean West Midlands. The fellow will undertake a project exploring OOP type by specialty/gender and will explore themes around type of OOP and specialty to provide an in-depth understanding of the process, challenges, and areas for improvement of OOP experience. In addition, these fellowships offer a unique opportunity to develop the capability necessary for your future role as a clinical leader, through working with other leaders within your own organization, understanding the culture and the barriers to change supported by NHS-E Midlands to understand and lead positive change in learning and clinical environment. The fellow will be working alongside other fellows in the region involve in Postgraduate Trainee Forum and contribute to improving communication between PGDiT and stakeholders to help improve trainee engagement and involvement. Fellows will have the opportunity to interact with other arms lengths bodies as well as being exposed to other aspects of NHS-E

Supported Return to Training (SuppoRTT) Fellows (East & West Midlands)

These Fellowship posts are fixed 12 months posts working closely with the Director of Medical Education (DME) and the Champion for SuppoRTT.

The Fellow will develop skills required to understand, design and recommend a defined return to training process for both a cohort of trainees and the individual trainee with bespoke needs. This will involve becoming familiar with the current range of activities and interventions that would support doctors returning to training following time out of programme or away from the workplace.

The Fellow will be encouraged to develop and lead project work. The post will also provide the Fellow with the opportunity to understand and develop their leadership potential and skills and their educational skills.

The post holders will have two clinical sessions per week (annualised) to support the maintenance of their clinical skills within their specialty and they will be allocated an Educational Supervisor to support this work. In addition, time and funding will be allocated within the job plan to allow the Fellow to undertake a medical education qualification at Warwick Medical School (from PG Cert to a Masters depending on completion of previous studies). Finally, there will be time in the job plan to undertake both undergraduate and post graduate teaching and training and undertake related research and project work leading to publications and conference attendance. All such work will be supervised with the aim of enabling the successful applicant to enhance their portfolio with an impressive range of evidence of leadership, innovation, teaching skills and related publications.
