**Job Description**:
**Purpose**

The purpose of the role is to ensure management of loss events from within the First Line of Defence in accordance with the key accountabilities and responsibilities as detailed. A loss event is an issue that has actually occurred and has a negative impact on our business over and above any pre-determined thresholds. Examples of loss events include:
- Events causing a significant disruption of our business or system; example being that system service outage results in an inability to deliver product or service to/on behalf of our clients.
- Events involving compromised data or system breaches associated with restricted or confidential data.
- Media coverage that may result in a negative perception of Experian by consumers, our clients, investors or regulators.
- Receipts or notifications of any regulatory enforcement action, any potential material violation of law or any self-disclosed material notification to a regulator.
- An event resulting from a failure/error of our personnel, processes or systems that could have a significant financial, regulatory, reputational, client or consumer impact. This includes Experian managed businesses and third parties, resellers, agents, etc.
- Events arising from employment related incidents or practices with a potential for litigation, regulatory or reputational damage.

**Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities**

When a loss event is identified in accordance with the agreed definitions and criteria, the Loss Event Manager will be accountable for ensuring that the event is managed in accordance with the documented procedure, including:
Support of the initial identification as a loss event and ensures swift initial containment
- Ensures communication to notify the UK Executive, second line oversight teams and if applicable regulatory bodies
- Ensures that the first line business works to identify root cause, produces and implements a remediation plan
- Ensures that the first line business progresses with the agreed remediation plan in accordance with agreed timescales and provides regular updates and status reporting of the event during its lifecycle
- Escalates any issues that are preventing progress to containment, remediation and/or resolution
- Provides a summarized view of loss events via associated MI/Reporting and identifies any key trends for investigation
- Collaborate across UKI Business Units to “deep dive” ineffective controls to avoid future process failures
- Work with risk and assurance team in DA to drive control improvements and complete process reviews

In addition to loss events, support of our risk management activity will also be required more generally, however the primary focus of the role is in relation to the management of loss events.
