Operational Planning is a vital support service to the entire operation, helping the airport meet its vision of giving passengers the best airport service in the world with the challenges we experience as one of the busiest airports in the world. The team are responsible for creating the right planning proposition, from defining roles to building rosters, and delivering an effective and efficient plan every day. It is about understanding our capacity and making best use of it, as well as evaluating our performance so we can continuously improve.

This exciting new leadership role is a key part of delivering our strategy for operational planning. The role will be responsible for leading the complex and multifaceted operational planning inputs to the next generation security programme. This is a broad, high-profile role that cuts across capacity, resourcing, business change and our operating model for security.

**Your role will involve**:

- Owning the operational planning relationship with the security programme, including representing the function in senior steering committees and expert working groups.
- Designing the planning operating model and strategy for the transition period and end state of the programme, including key decisions around capacity and resourcing both within security and adjoining areas, such as check in.
- Ensuring that regulatory obligations around security performance reporting are met throughout the programme.
- Working with the technology and business change team to ensure that data from security machines enables more intelligent planning and supports the delivery of the future operating model.
- Engaging with key stakeholders across the programme to ensure plans meet operational needs. Influence these functions to shape and modify plans e.g., training, recruitment, lane operating model. Provide constructive challenge to the programme to ensure operational deliverability is protected across transition.
- Develop strategic proposals to protect capacity and evaluate the impact on resourcing.
- Leading on governance, including chairing the ops planning working group, representing ops planning in programme governance, inputting into action, risk and milestone trackers and keeping the ops planning leadership team briefed on progress.
- Ensuring ops planning outputs are provided into programme when required, working across the function to prioritise asks and requests. Championing the ‘value add’ of planning engagement and draw in the experts where required.

- Excellent communicator, able to cut through complexity and tell the story behind the numbers as well as project management
- Personable, persuasive, and effective relationship builder
- Excellent planning skillset, able to sequence and prioritise a complex and interlinked workload.
- Data literate and able to play in the detail as well as the strategy
- Articulate with excellent writing, presentation and data visualisation skills.
- Experience of major transformation and change programmes

**Ideally, you’ll also have**:

- Technical knowledge of airport planning and security or any operational equivalent
