**Job description**:
You will work at the heart of the Rail Transformation Programme (RTP) Directorate in the Department for Transport. We are a multi-disciplinary team of dedicated professionals supporting the ambitious reform agenda for the railways. As a proactive and ambitious project delivery professional, you will have scope to visibly impact and input into the delivery of a major transformation programme.

You will work within the RTP Programme Management Office and will provide support to the RTP Programme Director and the programme’s Senior Responsible Owner. Your role will be varied but you will have key responsibility for leading two critical workstreams**:Programme Planning and Risk Management.**

This is an exciting time for you to join RTP as we embark on the most fundamental reform of the railways in a generation. Delivery of these reforms will help support post-COVID recovery of the railways and the Government’s Levelling up agenda, improve the passenger and freight user experience, and deliver more for taxpayers and communities.

You will be comfortable with ambiguity and working on your own initiative. You will proactively implement creative and pragmatic solutions to overcome obstacles and support delivery against key time, cost and quality criteria.

You will think strategically and be able to understand how your work supports achieving the end objective. You will have positive leadership skills and ability to manage and lead a small team, ensuring that they understand their roles, responsibilities and the strategic direction of the team.
