Senior Crisis Practitioner

Ability to work in partnership with other teams and services Effective team player A belief in recovery, psychosocial interventions, engagement and the involvement of service users and carers in their care. Can demonstrate a sound working knowledge of the whole system and relevant care pathways. A good understanding of mental health services, including relevant legislation (Mental Health Act, Capacity Act).

A clear understanding and commitment to the role and purpose of Emergency Service Pathways (Street Triage and the Section 136 Suite) A clear understanding of the professional role, both profession specific and the generic nature of a senior crisis practitioner. Understanding of the Care Programme Approach. A good understanding of the needs of people with mental health problems who are in acute crisis. Excellent assessment of clinical risk and experience of risk management.

Capacity to embrace change. Able to work across a full working week i.e. 7 days, 24 hours a day. Calm and confident with people who are in distress.

Reflective and considered approach to problem solving. An awareness of the limitations of the role and when to escalate to senior staff.
