Applications are invited for a term-time only post of Weekend Supervisor at Canterbury. We are looking for applicants who are enthusiastic and imaginative and have the appropriate skillset to work in our busy Library & Student Services department which provides support for students and staff on the Canterbury campus.

This post will provide first line help for Library/Gateway users in locating and using to the best effect all the resources, facilities, equipment and technology available within the Canterbury Library.

You should have experience of working in a customer service environment, preferably a busy academic library or support services environment. Effective interpersonal and communication skills and excellent customer service skills are essential. You should also have experience of automated library systems and be a competent and confident IT user. Knowledge of online information would be an advantage.

We are looking for someone who will be prepared to accept responsibility and be able to respond effectively under pressure and demonstrate initiative. You will also have considerable powers of self-motivation, with the ability to motivate others. Equally important is the experience that you will bring to managing a small weekend team and within that work as part of a team as well, showing initiative, flexibility and attention to detail at all times. Being prepared to use new skills and undertake staff development as appropriate, especially in the area of new technology. A First Aid qualification (or the willingness to be trained as a First Aider) would be desirable.

**Hours of work are**:
Saturdays: 10am - 5pm (29 weeks per year)

Sunday: 1pm - 5pm (29 weeks per year)
- With 3 of these weeks operating as extended opening_ - Saturday/Sunday - 10am - 7pm

The post is term time only and the actual pro-rata salary for this vacancy is £5,525-6,190 p.a.
