Our ward is a busy proactive 33 bedded area specialising in Vascular Surgery. We provide diagnostic and treatment, Pre and Post operatively for Vascular conditions, procedures, and Surgical care for patients with both acute and chronic Vascular problems. We are an established team and although it is a very busy and demanding ward we work closely as a team and deal with the day-to-day pressures with positivity and high levels of energy.

We love making a difference and working together as a close family to gain the rewards of making our patients journey enjoyable and successful. In order to do this, we are looking for Nursing Associates / Assistant Practitioners with a genuine interest in acute Surgery to join us.

Experience of working with patients in a hospital setting would be beneficial

You will need to be flexible in your working hours to work shifts/unsocial hours including nights as required. You must have a willingness to undertake further training to support the team in the management of patients with Vascular conditions.

You will be responsible for providing a range of personalised care for patients and a range of clinical duties under the guidance and supervision of the Team Leader/Nurse in charge including assisting patient with personal care, nutrition & hydration requirements. Carrying out observations and escalating as per local policies. There are also opportunities to work as ‘link nurses’ being a focus on the ward specific areas of care (E.g. infection control, pressure ulcer prevention). There are also opportunities as a band 4 to lead on patient care, run a team under the supervision of the registered nurse, carrying out clinical tasks (Bloods, ECG’s) and complex dressings including Larvae and Vac Therapy.

**We are a regional specialist centre for**: Vascular -In 2013 we became the regional vascular centre for Lancashire and South Cumbria.

We were established in 2005 and were the first trust in the country to be awarded ‘teaching hospitals’ status.

Contribute to the assessment, implementation and evaluation of care to meet patients’ needs in accordance with agreed local and national standards and evidence-based guidelines under supervision.
- Support and provide patient education and health promotion.
- Support the delivery and co-ordination of care, through appropriate professional practice.
- Contribute to the management of risk and maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Assist in setting, monitoring and maintaining standards of care to improve the patient experience and outcome of care.
- Communicate all relevant information to the multidisciplinary team internally and with external organisations as required, to ensure seamless care.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of all care activities, in a timely manner, adhering to local and professional standards for documentation.
- Act as a role model, presenting a positive image of self, team and the organisation.
- Promote equality in care and practice by recognising, respecting and meeting the needs and choices of individuals.
- Ensures environment of care is safe, well equipped and compliant with standards for hygiene and cleanliness.
- Maintain and develop own professional competence and skills within scope of role.
