The Physician Associate will work under the direction of the Gastroenterology Consultants.
We are seeking an enthusiastic Physician Associate to play a key role in the delivery of the integrated services and to become a key member of the team.
We would anticipate the core clinical duties of Physician Associates to be as follows however we anticipate that the role will evolve and there may be variation in duties and responsibilities according to the area worked within.
Clinical duties and responsibilities
- Assessing and examining patients, taking patient histories, ordering appropriate investigations, interpreting investigation findings, forming a list of differential diagnoses and recommending management/treatment accordingly.
- Delivering care in a range of settings, which may include hospital inpatient wards, outpatient clinics, community clinics, urgent care facilities, nursing homes and conducting home visits where required
- Taking responsibility for a dedicated patient caseload, as required, under the supervision of the lead clinician
- Maintaining timely and appropriate documentation
- Having, developing and maintaining specialist medical knowledge appropriate to the role through relevant Continuing Professional Development (CPD)/Continuing Medical Education (CME)
- Contributing to the development of efficient pathways of care
- Contributing to achieving and maintaining outstanding performance in the team/ organisation
- To be accountable for the care given and to comply with the Fitness to Practice and Code of Conduct standard as established by the Physician Associate Managed Voluntary Registration Commission (PAMVRC) and subsequently the appropriate statutory regulating body, when this is in plac
