**Role**
Supporting Northamptonshire schools in partnership with The University of Northampton to organise the National Collaborative Outreach Programme (Uni Connect) which aims to support the most disadvantaged learners in England to progress into higher education(HE). The programme involves outreach activity in geographical areas where the HE participation of learners is lower than expected based on GCSE-level attainment.
An outreach role within designated Uni Connect schools and colleges based in Northamptonshire, the post holder is expected to assist the Project Manager to create, organise, manage and take responsibility for all Uni Connect related activities within the schooland college, co-ordinating paperwork, administrative tasks, logistics and data to contribute to the smooth and effective running of the Uni Connect programme. The role will also require speaking both formally and informally to learners and adult learners atevents such as, open days, school and college open evenings, careers fairs, summer schools, taster days, student assemblies, community events and parent evenings.
The post is funded by the Office for Students initially until 31st July 2023 with the strong likelihood of a further 2 years of OfS funding to July 2025. Petrol expenses can be claimed for travel, some criteria applies.

**Duties and responsibilities**
Work within a school and college setting to:
Be a key university contact at the school and college, managing engagement with externally delivered, targeted activity in addition to working with staff and learners in the school and college itself, providing accurate and impartial information to targetedlearners
To create, develop and manage bespoke innovative learning packages and motivational experiences for school students during online and outreach events as outlined within the consortium operational plan.
Effectively manage the adult learner strand of the Uni Connect programme within a college, working with the evaluation team to understand the context of adult learners, their needs and create and deliver a suite of opportunities that supports the delivery ofthe Phase 3 adult learner objectives
Plan, prepare and manage materials and activities, deliver presentations and workshops to target groups of student
Relationship building with school and college based staff to enable students and staff engagement in work stream opportunities
Relationship building with learners to enable access to activities
Keep accurate data records and manage data collection with The University of Northampton for monitoring purposes in addition to related administrative work including data collection, evaluation, record keeping and report writing
Act as a point of contact between the school and college, The University of Northampton and other relevant bodies for example SEMLEP in organising Uni Connect related activities
Advertise, encourage and support available Uni Connect events to school and college based learners
Organise travel and transport to all offsite Uni Connect events
Where appropriate, accompany learners to Uni Connect events both on and offsite
Recruit learners to events
Administrative responsibilities to secure room bookings, raise finance requests and any other ad hoc administrative responsibility the role may present
Act as the point of contact for learners with Uni Connect queries
Attend meetings with University of Northampton Uni Connect colleagues
Promote the benefits of HE to widening participation and Uni Connect learners
Provide facts and dispel myths; improve perceptions and attitudes towards progression to HE
Increase the knowledge among parents and carers of the different progression routes and Aspire Higher into HE
Participate in the review of Aspire Higher schools’ engagement work, reporting using the department and University’s agreed monitoring and evaluation mechanisms

**Skills and experience**
5 GCSE’s grade A-C including maths and English or equivalent.
Able to provide accurate information, advice and guidance concerning Higher Education of HE, particularly concerning topics such as the UCAS process, finance, and student support.
Experience of working with learners.
Experience of preparing and delivering presentations to large audiences.
Knowledge of the UK student finance system.
Evidence of effective planning and implementation.
The ability to promote the University effectively and to act as an ambassador for the University in the wider education and schools’ sectors.
The ability to motivate learners.
High level of organisational skills.
Excellent use of ICT skills.
Ability to support events and opportunities by communicating key messages to school and college contacts.
Ability to undertake occasional travel and to work outside 'normal’ business hours.
Ability to communicate effectively with learners and parents/carers.
Enthusiastic about education and the benefits of HE.
Ability to confidently communicate to a large number of people.
Respect for social, cultural, religious and ethnic backgrounds.
Ability to help learners to reach their potential and build self-confidence.
Ability to positively motivate team members.
Ability to plan and schedule work.
Reliable.
Willingness to travel to schools in the Northamptonshire area.
The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
Willingness to undertake relevant training.
Hold a current driving license.
Access to transport.

**Additional information**
This role is part time and can be 2 days or 3 days per week. This role is initially for six months with a strong possibility of a further two year extension.
