**Financial Accounting Team**

Within the Financial Services team, we provide an integrated financial accounting service for the Board, comprising three main Acute Hospitals, Old Age, Mental Health and Learning Difficulties Hospitals and all health centres within the region.

**The Role**
- Reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining ledgers and providing accurate and timely information in accordance with NHS Lanarkshire reporting timetables.
- Preparing and processing journal input to the general ledger, ensuring the necessary authorisation and coding has been undertaken. The information is mainly routine, is high volume and requires high levels of accuracy.
- Completion of control account reconciliations, identifying and resolving erroneous entries and escalating unresolved items to the Financial Accounting Manager.
- Maintaining a register of leased cars, ensuring all associated costs are identified and processed monthly, liaising with the Car Lease Team.
- Preparing data for recharges and raising debtor’s proformas, ensuring accurate charges are made timeously to other NHS bodies and external agencies.
- Responsible for analysing and preparing the monthly information to be passed to the Head of Payroll for verification before payment of PAYE, NIC and Superannuation deductions to the relevant Government body. In addition, there are similar analysis and preparation for the payments covering unions and GAYE.
- Review of purchase invoices to verify the correct VAT treatment for inclusion in the Board’s monthly VAT return.
- Collation of monthly patient’s funds statements.
- Assist with providing accurate and timeous financial reports to the Financial Accounting Manager and service managers throughout NHS Lanarkshire.
- Assisting with the Board annual accounts process, ensuring all documentation is collated and provided to external auditors.
- Assisting the Financial Accounting Manager and wider Financial Accounting Team as required.
- Working with minimum supervision, assisting with maintaining systems, procedures and controls for all aspects of the Financial Accounting Function and working to strict monthly reporting deadlines.

**Qualifications**
- **
**Working knowledge, skills and experience equivalent to HNC level.
