Farringdon, United Kingdom Save the Children Full time

Save the Children UK has an exciting opportunity for an influential and collaborative individual to join us as a **Corporate Advisory Board Member.**

**About Us**

We are Save the Children. Together, we fight for children every single day so that they can make their mark on the world and build a better future.

We stand side by side with children in the toughest places to be a child. We do whatever it takes to make sure they survive, get protection when they're in danger, and have the chance to learn.

**About the role**

The Corporate Advisory Board (CAB) will be comprised of senior executives from leading businesses who are passionate about Save the Children's mission. Our CAB members will play a pivotal role in building transformational corporate partnerships, identifying new opportunities, and collectively advocating for the partnerships with businesses needed to help children thrive.

**As a Corporate Advisory Board Member of SCUK, you will**:
Work with the Partnerships team to deepen our relationships with existing priority partners.

Engage business leaders and board influencers, unlock insights around longer-term, strategic concerns and identify resources to improve Save the Children's impact.

In particular, you will:

- Be ardent advocates for Save the Children in public dialogue.
- Champion the charity as a “partner of choice” to their external networks
- Identify priority areas of shared value with businesses that we can unlock to achieve transformational impact for children and their communities.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of Save the Children's transformational partnerships.
- Advise on the external trends relevant to Save the Children (opportunities and risks)

**About you**

You'll bring a unique worldview, life experience, specific skills, expertise and networks to help solve strategic challenges Save the Children faces in collaboration with businesses. You will also be:

- Senior-level professional from leading businesses
- Committed to the rights of children: non-discrimination, best interest of the child, right to life survival and development, right to be heard.
- Able to travel to the UK for annual CAB workshop and commit the time required to this role (circa 4-6 hours per month)
- High integrity and inclusive operator with strong emotional intelligence
- Is engaged with, and excited by, SCUK's vision, mission and values.
- Has a demonstrable commitment to championing diversity and inclusion, and a clear understanding of power, privilege, and how this affects everyone, particularly the children and communities with which we work.

Other highly desirable capabilities:

- Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strategic thinking.
- A good understanding of child poverty in the UK, and an interest in international affairs.
- Willingness to build and use networks to make introductions for SCUK, for example to explore best practice in or facilitate fundraising, or advocacy and campaigning.
- An understanding of, or willingness to learn about, corporate governance issues, especially those that might affect a large international not-for-profit organisation.

**Terms of Appointment**:
This role is unremunerated (/pro bono). There are four CAB meetings per year which are held virtually, and one in-person full day workshop held in Save the Children's London UK Headquarters every fourth quarter (i.e. November/December).

**What we offer**:
This is an opportunity to form connections with some of the leading minds in business and sustainability. CAB members will gain exclusive insights in some of the world's most ambitious corporate partnerships and the latest innovations that will allow us to achieve impact at scale for children and their communities in the UK and beyond.
