**Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service **has a fantastic opportunity available for a **Home Safety Admin Assistant** to join our team in **Exeter.** You will join us on a **full-time, fixed term contract lasting 6 months**.In return, you will receive a competitive salary of **£22,777 - £24,496 per annum.**

**About the role:**

As a **Home Safety Admin Assistant**, you will act as the first point of contact for members of the public, partner agencies and internal staff, providing relevant and necessary home safety advice.

You will be responsible for managing and prioritising Home Safety Technicians diaries for home safety visits, replacement alarms and arson letterbox requests, and signpost to other departments and external agencies.

The role involves a high number of phone conversations with vulnerable and distressed members of the public, which you will be required to handle in a calm and reassuring manner, whilst maintaining professional boundaries.

**Key responsibilities as our Home Safety Admin Assistant will include**:

- Acting as the first point of contact for enquires from members of the public and referrals from partner agencies relating to Home Safety Visits
- Managing phone calls to and from very vulnerable members of the community, some of which may be distressing, in a calm, reassuring and professional manner
- Using agreed criteria and processes to determine eligibility for a home safety visit
- Managing and updating the Home Safety App and other essential Community Safety IT based systems
- Managing the diaries of 30+ Home Safety Technicians ensuring the appropriately trained technician is booked to the visit
- Using professional judgement to prioritise Home Safety Visits and workloads to ensure that risks to the most vulnerable occupants are minimised
- Revalidation of sensitive personal information in a timely and accurate manner
- Providing clerical and administrative support to other members of the Community Safety Department
- Maintaining knowledge and skills of Capability Plans, Legislation and Campaigns

**What we’re looking for in our Home Safety Admin Assistant**:

- MS Office software packages to include Outlook, Word and Excel
- Processing invoices
- Experience of handling conflict / hostile situations with customers
- Proven keyboard skills: ability to key with speed and accuracy.
- Good written, and verbal communication skills
- Proven administration and time management skills
- Ability to interpret and appropriately act on guidance / procedures
- Good planning, organisational and prioritisation skills
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality
- Excellent telephone manner

**This role will require an enhanced DBS check.**
