Job Introduction
An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and high performing individual in the role of Education Welfare Officer within our central duty team.

You will be required to work in close collaboration with central and district colleagues to address the complex issues of school attendance, child employment and entertainment.

Main Responsibilities
We are looking for an individual who has a thorough understanding of:

- issuing penalty notices for unauthorised absences
- investigating and prosecuting for irregular school attendance
- supporting children missing out on education for health reasons
- carrying out child entertainment and employment checks
- school attendance orders and the fair access process
- keeping children safe in education
- tracing children missing education

Previous experience is preferred.

You will:

- have a robust understanding of statutory safeguarding procedures
- demonstrate a working knowledge of the Education Act
- show an understanding of the current DFE Guidance on attendance.
- have excellent recording and communication skills
- work effectively in a busy team
