We have an exciting opportunity for a Data and Systems Officer to join our growing clinical trials unit. The Oxford Respiratory Trials Unit (ORTU) specialises in the design, delivery and administration of trials across the field of Respiratory Medicine, as well as supporting trials led by other teams. Our scope of work includes clinical trials at all phases, Clinical Trials of Investigational Medicinal Products (CTIMPs), medical device trials, cohort and epidemiological studies. Research areas include, COVID-19 and Long COVID, pleural diseases, COPD, asthma, and respiratory sleep and breathing disorders. The Unit is currently working on the EXPLAIN trial (HypErpolarised Xenon Magnetic Resonance PuLmonary ImAging In PatieNts with Long-COVID) which is looking at a novel imaging technique to try understand why some individuals with Long-COVID struggle with breathlessness on exertion, and through our collaboration with the Oxford Primary Care Clinical Trials Unit, we are supporting the national priority trial, PANORAMIC

This post requires an analytical, proactive and motivated individual ideally with experience of data management in a research context, and proven abilities in data collection systems design and testing, query management, and time management skills. The Data and Systems Officer will perform a range of data
- & systems-related activities across clinical trials and research projects run by the Oxford Respiratory Trials Unit (ORTU)

Reporting to the Lead for IT Systems and Data Management, and interacting with a multi-disciplinary team including Chief Investigators and third-party vendors, the postholder will conduct the development and configuration of data capture solutions for upcoming studies and will be accountable for the oversight and timely delivery of clinical trial data and documentation according to agreed timelines and quality expectations. Previous data management experience, ideally gained from a clinical research environment will be needed but adequate training will be provided, with multiple opportunities to learn and develop.

This post is full time (part-time 0.5 FTE, 18.75 hours per week will be considered) and fixed term for 12 months in the first instance, with the possibility of further extension.
