The position of Senior Systems Administrator is a technical role within the Infrastructure team at Target. The individual in this role is part of a wider IT Operations and Support team which is accountable for the availability, maintenance, and monitoring of Targets server and infrastructure estate. Working within a team of circa 10 IT specialists, the individual will work closely with the wider technical and leadership teams in order to support the infrastructure platform, meet customer needs and maintain our contractual and regulatory commitments in a manner that is in keeping with our corporate behaviours.

Specific responsibilities include:

- To contribute to the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) estate within the organisation
- Work with chosen partners to design, deliver and support a modern infrastructure platform to the organisation, with focus on confidentiality, availability, and integrity of data assets.
- Maintaining a professional culture within the team, where individuals take ownership and are proud of delivering excellence and quality.
- Continues to develop & improve the infrastructure platform by identifying areas for improvements to confidentiality, availability, integrity, and efficiency of services

The Infrastructure team includes members with a diverse array of skills and specialities, where everyone is willing to help each other out with tasks as needed.

**Requirements**:
This role involves administration of services over 2 UK based sites, with work concentrated in Newport and Cardiff.

Primary accountabilities include:

- Ensuring availability of Targets Infrastructure estate by means of pro-active maintenance, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
- Maintaining Targets adherence to regulatory and contractual SLAs by keeping the RHEL estate updated and secure.
- Working with 3rd line colleagues to develop skills, knowledge, and capability to enhance self-development.
- Provide support and tutoring for 1st and 2nd Line staff within other support teams.
- Possessing and developing the ability to methodically isolate and resolve faults, as well as identify problems that impact the wider business.
- Maintaining a professional culture within the team, where individuals take ownership and are proud of delivering excellence and quality.
- Contributes to improved collaboration across teams to get the desired results as well as speeding up decisions.
- Engage in self-paced development of technical skills and take responsibility for becoming an SME in selected technologies.

This role involves day to day support as well as project-based work, and the applicant will be exposed to a wide range of technologies and solutions as part of their daily duties.

The individual will accept that, due to the nature of the role and the work involved, flexible working is required. Target currently operate a 7am - 7pm cover for the 3rd line Support Teams with an average of 7.5 hours worked between these times. There will be occasions whereby working outside of these hours will be required, for which notice will be given in these instances. This will be reimbursed through additional pay or as time in lieu as appropriate and agreed on a case-by-case basis.

Once the probationary period is passed, this individual will be eligible for joining a paid on-call rota (standby charge plus hourly rate) with an average of 1 week in 4 required for on-call.
