**Training, Compliance & safety Officer**

**Purpose & Scope**:
To provide support and guidance to the management team to minimise/remove risk of accidents, work related-illnesses and injuries in the feed mill and to maintain high standards of health and safety in the workplace.

To ensure feed mill compliance to external regulatory requirements and internal policies and procedures.

Responsible for identifying employee training and development needs and planning, organizing and overseeing appropriate training.

**Operating Environment**:

- Office and Feed Mill
- We operate a 24/7 business and therefore there may be times you will need to work outside of regular hours

**Main Accountabilities and Duties**:

- Establish and maintain a thorough risk assessment and task procedure management system
- Review and maintain existing operating procedures and practices to make recommendations for improvements where applicable
- Conduct Plant inspections in conjunctional with the mill management team
- Ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are reported through the Focus Safety App
- Support with incident and accident investigations
- Manage and facilitate external audits - Willis Blue, NFU, EA. Support management team in achieving audits in agreed frequencies.
- Manage site hygiene standards
- Administration of Quality control feed and hygiene samples/swabs and feed complaints
- Support with new employee onboarding and attend new employee probation reviews
- Conduct new and refresher respiratory face fit testing for employees (training will be provided)
- Ensure records are maintained and training refreshers are undertaken in a timely fashion
- Design and deliver topic specific ‘tool box talks’
- Complete employee competency reviews annually
- Meet with other site safety, compliance and training officers regularly to share best practice, knowledge and experiences
- Attend operational meetings as requested

**General Provisions**:

- Ensure that the Health and Safety Policies, Standard Operating Procedures are properly managed and adhered to at all times
- Ensure that food safety, integrity, legality and quality applies at all times and in all areas of our business
- Ensure biosecurity processes and procedures are adhered to (where appropriate) to protect birds from disease and maintain food safety.
- Ensure that the training and, development needs of any subordinate staff are identified and addressed, and contribute generally to the development of an overall learning culture within the company.
- Ensure that delivery of agreed SLA standards is maintained where appropriate.
- Participate as necessary in appropriate shifts and on-call duty rotas, if applicable.
- Other duties within the general scope of the post may be required from time to time.
- The duties of the post and job description will be regularly reviewed by the line manager.

**Person Specification**

Knowledge and Experience (Essential or Desirable):

- Experience of working in agriculture/feed mill
- Desirable
- Internal auditing qualification - Desirable
- IOSH qualification - Essential (to be undertaken within first 6 months)
- Nebosh qualification - Desirable
- Knowledge of regulatory organisations & understanding the law - Desirable
- Experience of delivering training - Essential
- Manual Handling Instructor qualification - Desirable
