Payroll Assistant

To process the periodic payroll for employees and assist the Payroll Manager in other duties related to the running of the payroll function for Hertsmere and external clients.

1. holiday payments.

2. To create and maintain all employee personnel files, ensuring archiving of leavers and cleansing of information held in line with the Data Protection Act.

3. To create and maintain up to date folders for all employee benefit information and maintain a monthly payroll file for all new starters, leavers, changes etc.

4. To enter the relevant information onto the payroll system and check for accuracy.

5. To run payroll calculations and check that individual payments are correct.

6. To instruct BACS to make payments on the correct pay date and co-ordinate distribution of pay slips.

7. To reconcile the payroll with the annual accounts (Red Book) and the Financial Information Systems.

8. To deal with enquiries from all Council staff regarding pay related matters.

9. To record details of allowances claimed by Councillors in the Ledger manually, and record the number of attendance’s claimed.

10. To assist when required in the preparation of the monthly payroll.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Temporary contract
Contract length: 6 months

**Salary**: £14.00-£17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36 per week

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday

**Experience**:

- payroll: 1 year (preferred)
- local authority/ public sector: 1 year (preferred)
