Advanced Clinical Practitioner

Sheffield, United Kingdom University of Sheffield Full time

Would you like to work in a CQC outstanding practice which is not about profit, has patient care at its heart and has time to support you and your development? Then look no further - the University of Sheffield Health Service is looking to recruit a dynamic and highly motivated Advanced Clinical Practitioner to expand their team.

The practice population is made up of mainly students and their families, with 98% of practice falling in the age range 18-40. This provides a unique opportunity for a clinician with an interest in a wide range of conditions, particularly those relevant to our patient population, including mental health, sexual health and contraception choices.

We are located in a bright and airy purpose-built building situated on the University of Sheffield campus, which is also close to lots of local amenities and the buzz of City centre life. Parking is available through the University.

All clinicians have 15 minute appointments and time set aside for administration in addition to regular clinical governance and training. We also do not have any care homes links and no routine home visits.

We are looking for someone who wants to work as part of a team of advanced practitioners to provide a first point of contact within the practice for patients presenting with undifferentiated, undiagnosed problems, making use of skills in history taking, physical examination, problem solving and clinical decision-making, to establish a diagnosis and appropriate management plan. You will also undertake triage, both by telephone, online and face to face, for patients seeking access to services.

In addition to this you will work collaboratively with the University Health Service Team and the wider Student Services community, in order to support students to achieve a successful academic outcome and develop skills for achieving and maintaining a healthy life.
We are a friendly and welcoming team, holding regular social events including our monthly bring and share lunches and other social events. We have regular team and practice meetings, with lunches provided on these days. The practice supports those who are keen to learn and maintain their professional development. The clinical staff at UHS are supported by a great (onsite) digital team, a supportive secretarial team and a proactive and friendly reception team. We have strong links to additional student support services, as well as the additional benefits of being part of the wider University, including access to discounts and gym membership.
- 35 hour working week (core hours Monday-Friday 9-5, with 1 hour lunch break).
- 15 minute appointments as standard.
- If home visits are undertaken, appropriate time is given.
- No care homes linked to surgery.
- 98% of patients aged 18-40, around 38000 patients (single site practice and PCN)
- Great social opportunities with away days (rounders, BBQs etc.) and monthly bring and share lunches.
- Very supportive and dynamic team.
- Protected administration time.
- Study leave for training courses and development.
- 30 days annual leave plus additional closure days and bank holidays
- Competitive T&Cs for maternity and sick pay etc.
- Incremental pay scale akin to NHS banding.
- Various rewards and benefits through the university ‘The Deal’.
- Regular clinical governance, practice learning events and educational sessions.

We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.

We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
