**Job summary**:
We are looking to identify an exceptional Project Delivery Professional with meaningful** **planning experience and a rounded understanding of project/programme environments to play a key role in supporting the delivery of a variety of the Home Office’s highest priority projects Programmes.

This role is within the Portfolio and Project Delivery (PPD) directorate, which comprises Portfolio Management, the Project Delivery Centre of Excellence, our Project Delivery Profession function and the Rapid Response Team. PPD’s role is to ensure that the Home Office Change Portfolio remains optimised, balanced and prioritised so that it contributes to maximum value delivery of the Home Office’s objectives as well the continual improvement of the department’s project delivery capacity and capability.

**Job description**:
We are looking for an exceptional individual to join the Home Office’s Project Delivery ‘Rapid Response Team’ in the capacity of Grade 6 Expert Planner. The team consists of experienced Project Delivery Professionals with proven track records in delivering complex projects and programmes in both the private and public sectors.

The team are one of the resource levers available to the Home Office to address an urgent resource gap or support delivery of an urgent output. The team is led centrally by the Portfolio and Project Delivery Directorate and are deployed to address specific delivery challenges across our major programmes and projects.

You will be deployed into complex projects/programmes, or those carrying a higher degree of reputational risk. You should expect to work in an environment of considerable uncertainty and political sensitivity, and to have to manage a number of high-profile stakeholders with conflicting priorities. The nature of initiatives will vary from technical change and transformation to the development of new digital products and new organisational policies and procedures. You will need to adapt procedures and methodologies to suit unique situations.

You will typically work on three or four different deployments over the course of a year and must therefore be comfortable working in a flexible and changing environment. You will have effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, as well as substantial experience of planning and leading planning teams within a variety of complex projects/ programmes utilising Waterfall, Agile and Hybrid methodologies.

- Developing and maintaining integrated project/ programme plans for the Home Office’s highest priority investments.
- Working with stakeholders and collaborating with other PPM functions to build rounded, comprehensive plans, ensuring all aspects of the project/ programme are taken in to account, defined and joined-up.
- Providing clarity on key achievements and the organisation of activities in light of available resources. Identifying and managing interdependencies and outputs.
- Using lessons learned from other projects/ programmes to inform assumptions management and planning.
- Managing and coordinating teams of Planners and assuring the plans they manage.
- Working with project/programme teams to track and manage progress against plans throughout project/programme lifecycles.
