**About us**

Our goal is to serve our community by being the leading community and voluntary support organisation across the Fylde Coast.

We are the local volunteering infrastructure organisation helping local people to access volunteering opportunities and supporting volunteer involving organisations with volunteer recruitment, training and good practice in volunteer management.

Besides volunteering, our other current workstreams include; Training; Health and Wellbeing; Employment Support; Community Development.

Our ethos is to recruit people who are passionate about working as part of a team whose vocation is to serve the community to the best of their ability.

We are looking for an experienced Community Engagement/Development Officer to support the development of Community Action Networks in Blackpool.

The primary skill for this role is the ability to engage with people of all backgrounds and build trusting relationships, with community members, colleagues and strategic partners. It is vital that the community is in control of any ideas, actions and activities that we help to enable in the area; this role is about supporting people, for example by building capacity, knowledge and confidence to take action at their own pace.
- Experience of working alongside local communities and of supporting the development of community groups or projects, on a paid or voluntary basis
- Understanding of using action learning approaches to gather data and share learning.
- Great listening and facilitation skills
- Experience of partnership working and demonstrable ability to form positive working relationships with a range of individuals and groups
- Be enthusiastic, self-motivated and have the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Experience in or understanding of community development practice, specifically place-based approaches and Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD)

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop and maintain relationships with members of the community.
- Organise events and activities to engage the community.
- Monitor and respond to feedback from the community.
- Develop strategies to increase engagement and participation in the community.
- Use a variety of methods to listen and engage with all members of the community, including people whose voices are not often heard.
- Work with the community to actively encourage participation, voice and action, based on identifying their shared priorities and supporting them to take these forward
- Develop strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Use local and personal knowledge to help build a picture of the community, mapping key stakeholders, local plans and strategies, and facilitating connections between them.
- Work closely with colleagues, community members and partner organisations to share learning and practice.
- Actively engage in a peer support/learning structure which enables operation with greater autonomy.
- Keep a record of all engagement taking place to make sure all learning and evidence of change is captured.
- Use a variety of methods to capture and share learning including self-reflection, reports, blogs, community stories and case studies.

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 30 per week

**Salary**: £24,982.00 per year
