**Salary and £23,000 per annum pro rata plus pension**
**Conditions contribution**

**Hours Part Time Post (22.5 hrs)**
**Some evening and weekend work may be required to fulfill the needs of the role.**

**Strategic Purpose**:
Blackpool Food Bank is a registered charity aimed at helping people who find themselves in food poverty. The charity has undergone considerable growth over recent years as its services have broadened and we are now a supplier of food to a wide network of organisations also providing food poverty support.

We were a leading player in the launch of what was formerly the Blackpool
Food Partnership providing food parcel provision for the Blackpool area in partnership with the Local Authority, ecumenical partners, charities and community groups. This network has expanded and the provision and support has also grown significantly.

The purpose of this role is to be responsible for all of our transportation needs. This will include all collections, deliveries, vehicle upkeep, transport and warehouse logistics and vehicle safety. It will also include the maintenance programme for all of our vehicles.

The person recruited will play a leading role in implementing the long-term strategic plan for moving goods around the network and helping us to become more efficient in the way we do this.

Fylde & Wyre.)
- Excellent people management and coordination skills.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Good intuition to make crucial judgment calls.
- An excellent organiser and an ability to keep all vehicle and volunteer driver administration up to date.
- The ability to build relationships with individuals of many different backgrounds and able to facilitate them working together.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Logistics**
- Planning routes and load scheduling for multi-drop deliveries and collections.
- Booking in collections, deliveries and liaising with clients.
- Working with the Operations Manager to ensure that all partners in the supply chain are working effectively and efficiently to ensure smooth operations.
- Communicating effectively with clients and responding to their requirements.
- Liaise with the Warehouse team to review delivery priorities and warehouse logistics.

**Transport**
- Directing all transportation activities.
- Developing transportation relationships.
- Monitoring transport costs.
- Managing an effective maintenance system for our vans including weekly and monthly checks, cleaning schedules, MOT and Service

Schedules.
- Manage our External Freezer Unit at Layton yard to facilitate daily temperature monitoring and stock rotation.
- Operation of a Forklift Truck (experience and license desired)

- Arranging and collecting food from suppliers within the North-West, including suppliers in Manchester, Lancaster, Rochdale etc.
- Responsible for driver and vehicle safety, preparing Risk Assessments, providing appropriate training and supervision where necessary and that action is taken where required.
- Inducting and training all new Volunteer Drivers.
- Working alongside the Volunteer Manager to coordinate our Volunteer

Drivers and Mates.

**General**
- Contribute to innovations and developments to continually improve our service.
- Co-ordinate the gathering of statistical information from the projects and ensure appropriate record keeping and data protection provision is maintained.
- Regular meetings with Operations Manager & Chief Executive around operational effectiveness.
- Communication with our Management Team on operational requirements such as collections, deliveries, new network partners.
- Model all standards and behaviours and where necessary gap fill

(stand in) for missing resource.
- Drive initiatives launched by the management team that contribute to long-term operational excellence.
- Play a significant role in long-term planning, including an initiative geared toward training and embedding of operational excellence
- Mentor and demonstrate values through behaviours to the management team and volunteer staff
- Hold a clean, full valid driving license and have their own transport.
