**Permanent position, part-time hours available**

Downsfield Medical Centre are recruiting a Prescription Clerk/ Data Administrator on a permanent basis. We are a small and friendly practice with a growing patient list size and practice team.

You will be the first point of communication between the patient and the surgery for prescription queries. Excellent customer service and patient relationship skills, excellent communication skills and a confident manner, a willingness to learn and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential attributes of any applicants.

The role is to provide support to our clinical team in the management of repeat prescribing, dealing with queries and supporting the audit and review of relevant monitoring required for medicines. You will also be required to enter data for newly registered patients.

We offer a competitive salary together with 5.6 weeks annual leave.

The ideal working arrangements will be 20-25 hours worked over 5 days. Monday-Friday.

**Responsibilities**:
The role is to provide support to our clinical team in the management of repeat prescribing.

Involvement in prioritising repeat prescribing queries

Assisting the prescribers in dealing with issues related to repeat prescribing

Supporting the audit and review of relevant monitoring required for medicines

Handling telephone enquiries and accepting messages for GP’s and pharmacists

In putting computer data for repeat prescriptions

Setting up and actioning tasks in relation to prescription issues

There may be some reception duties involving an element of administrative work as follows:
Assist with the scanning process of relevant letters and reports into patients’ records.

Undertake computer searches and audits as required and prepare graphs, charts or reports.

Undertake computer searches and issue recall letters to patients identified as part of the Practice’s procedures in preventative health care.

**Team Responsibilities**

Act always in a way to protect the confidentiality of patients and maintain the integrity of the patient/health carer relationship

Demonstrate at all times excellent communication skills

Work effectively as a member of the team

Maintain and adhere to Health and Safety principles at all times.

Always be aware of own limitations and do not carry out any task or procedure that is beyond the Prescription Clerk or Data Administrator competence

Attend regular study days and updates to maintain standards of practice

Act as a support and share good practice with other clerks

The post holder will also co-ordinate his/her activities with those of colleagues undertaking a similar role

From the nature of the work involved, there are times when the post holder will have to work beyond their normal finish times and also work additional hours to provide absence relief for colleagues.

The post holder may be asked to undertake additional duties within their competence.

**Telephone**
- Answer the Telephone in a polite and professional manner
- Courteous manner at all times
- Have working knowledge of telephone system, protocol for out of hours cover
- Cover for colleagues when necessary
