**About the Programme**

The terrestrial Natural Capital and Ecosystem Assessment Programme (tNCEA) sits in the Central Analysis and Insights Directorate, overseen by Defra’s Chief Scientific Advisor. The programme aims to deliver a world-class knowledge capability for our natural environment which enables us to enhance our landscapes, improve biodiversity and encourage innovation. It will; develop integrated, adaptive and collaborative methods to measure our land and freshwater environments; transform physical and digital infrastructure to underpin, facilitate and present our understanding to aid decision-making; and deliver data, evidence-based insight and understanding to inform ambitious, proactive and sustainable policy decisions. The operating value of the Programme is c.£120m over the next two years, and we have just been onboarded as a Government Major Programme (GMPP).

**About the Programme Team**

You will join the Programme Management team, working to the G7 PMO Lead and alongside performance, planning and risk colleagues. We are a growing and supportive team managing a complex programme of work delivered with our partners (the Environment Agency, Forest Research, JNCC, Natural England, Royal Botanic Gardens Kew and the UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology). You will work across performance, planning and risk as needed, which will give you a broad range of experience and understanding of the whole programme, supporting delivery of some of our key projects including Government Major Projects Portfolio (GMPP) onboarding as well as typical Programme Management functions such as Performance Reporting, Risk Management and Assurance.

This role can be based at any Main Defra office Hub. We value flexible working, the ability to work at home on an ad hoc basis will be available to be considered.

**About the Role**

We are looking for a proactive, capable HEO Programme Support Officer to join the team and help us deliver this ground-breaking work.

You will bring developing project delivery skills to support the Programme Manager in delivering portfolio and programme requirements. You will play a key role in supporting project governance, assurance, reporting, planning and controls, collaborating with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure agreed programme outputs are tracked and delivered. You will be accustomed to working in an environment of uncertainty, ambiguity and change and you will be proactive in keeping abreast of developments in the business. You will have a professional, confident approach with key internal and external stakeholders, often at a very senior level.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- REPORTING - Monitor, analyse and prepare project performance reports providing timely insights and information to inform decision making (including internal programme e.g., Quarterly Performance & external GMPP); ensure timely, consistent, and accurate data collection, analysis and reporting for the Programme
- GOVERNANCE - Lead the governance of meetings; recording of meeting minutes, action and decision logs, scheduling attendance, provision of supporting paperwork etc; ensure a consistent and joined up approach in delivery across governance and reporting
- PROJECT CONTROLS - Establish and maintain programme and project controls, keeping the leads aware of progress and delivery confidence; monitor the delivery of project/work streams against plans, chasing and challenging progress as appropriate; be responsible for developing and managing project tracking, control and reporting arrangements including maintenance of a Forward Look
- STAKEHOLDERS - Manage professional relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, acting as the focal point for responses to requests for information and prepare correspondenc
