In this pivotal role you will work with the CEO, MPA Board and Public Affairs & Governance Committee to maintain the MPA as the leading voice for music publishers within the UK. Through building strong and constructive relationships with other industry stakeholders and through developing a clear agenda on policy matters relating to the music publishing business and music publishing rights, the role holder will support the strategic positioning of the MPA and lobby to positively influence the outcomes we seek to deliver for UK music publishers.

Working collaboratively with your MPA colleagues, you will update the MPA Board and key Committees regularly and ensure internal workstreams and communications are in line with MPA policy positions.

**Some key elements of the role include**:

- Forging strong relationships with Ministers, Peers, and relevant Government departments, and with international MPAs and ICMP*
- Participating in regular public speaking engagements, proactively seek out trade and press opportunities relating to policy for the MPA Group.
- Creating effective relationships to ensure the right opportunities are available, lobby for the outcomes we seek while monitoring relevant legislative developments and leading on MPA’s policy work.
- Developing, drafting and providing Policy briefings to the MPA Board and its Public Affairs & Governance Committee. Garnering input and feedback to encourage our membership to remain united, committed, informed and aligned on all policy matters.
- Form positions on key copyright, legal and industry matters in the best interests of the MPA Group and music publisher membership.

**About you**

You’ll have experience or an understanding of music publishing, copyright, and rights management. Strategic in your approach you will have a proven track record of actioning plans relating to policy and public affairs.

You’ll achieve this by leveraging your strong relationships within the industry and Westminster, alongside your equally strong drafting skills. A senior level negotiator you will demonstrate excellent diplomatic skills, be able to remain calm under pressure and solve complex problems. You will have the ability to lobby successfully.

As well as safeguarding and championing the interests of its members, the MPA also owns and operates subsidiary businesses (together known as The MPA Group), including the Mechanical Copyright Protection Society (MCPS) which is the UK collection society that licenses mechanical (or reproduction) copyrights on behalf of over 30,000 music publisher and composer members.
