- UKCEH is looking for a Research Associate Environmental Social Scientist to join our 600-strong team, contributing to scientific discovery and generating the data, insights and solutions that researchers, businesses and governments need to solve complex environmental challenges.

Your main responsibilities will include:
- Working with the project team and our large network of farm industry stakeholders-
- Carry out sociological research to develop a deep understanding of the perceptions, attitudes and behaviours-
- design and undertake stakeholder questionnaires, interviews and horizon-scanning workshops-
- carry out the transcription and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data using thematic and content coding approaches-
- publish the findings of your research in peer-reviewed journals, supported and mentored by a wider team of social and natural scientists at UKCEH and partner organisations.In this role, you’ll be working on the
- AgZero+
project, supporting the UK’s move towards domestic food production that is sustainable, carbon-neutral and has a positive effect on nature.

For the role of Research Associate Environmental Social Scientist, we’re looking for somebody who has:
- A PhD or equivalent qualification/experience in a relevant social or political science-
- Knowledge of the UK farming systems, agri-environmental policies and practice-
- Understanding on the social issues and challenges in achieving net-zero farming in the UK-
- Experience of working with farmers and the farming industry-
- Skills in questionnaire design for research in the agri-environmental context-
- Implementation participatory methods-
- Organising stakeholder workshops-
- Skills in qualitative and quantitative data analysis applied to research-
