- Volunteer**About Us**:
Central YMCA is transforming. This is an exciting time to join us as we look forward toward growth and progression and focus on our purpose to advance the education, health and wellbeing of our communities. **About the Role**:
We are looking for volunteers who are eager to make a difference in their own community by supporting girls and young women to be their best through our award-winning Y’s Girls Mentoring project.
As a volunteer mentor you will regularly meet up with a young person offering a friendly ear, support and guidance and advice on making positive life choices. You will also build a relationship with the young person’s parents/guardians, although the main focus is the young person. Full training, support and on-going supervision is offered by Central YMCA.
**About You**:
Our mentors are as diverse as the young people we work with and we welcome opportunities to celebrate our similarities and differences.

By supporting your mentee to identify small, achievable goals you will help them experience the process of persevering, achieving and celebrating and this builds their resilience and sense of worth well beyond the mentoring relationship.

- This role will involve daily contact with learners, and you will be engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
- All staff and volunteers have a responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people, and/or vulnerable adults for whom you are responsible and with whom you come into contact.
- The Charity’s Safeguarding Policy is available from Central YMCA website.
- Regulated activity: This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the Charity is therefore permitted to ask shortlisted applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) to assess their suitability to work with children. Should you be shortlisted, you will be required to complete a disclosure form prior to interview_
