Centrepoint, the UK’s leading youth homelessness charity, is looking for a Young Parents’ Support and Progression Officer to join our Lewis Crescent team based in Sunderland.

**About us**

We help vulnerable young people by giving them the practical and emotional support they need to find a job and live independently. Centrepoint provides homeless young people with accommodation, health support and life skills in order to get them back into education, training and employment. We want to end youth homelessness by 2037_._

Together with our partners, we support over 16,000 young people each year.

The role of Support and Progression Officer is central to maximising the opportunity for young parents aged 16-25 and their child/ children in Sunderland to achieve positive outcomes that will enable them to live happy, healthy, and fulfilling lives during and after leaving Centrepoint’s services. You will support young parents and expectant parents to develop the necessary independent living skills needed to successfully progress into independent living and gain employment and/or training whilst meeting the needs of Child in Need and Child Protection plans set by local social services.

Experience of working with young parents and expectant parents is desirable but not essential. Please refer to the attached Job Description for full details.

**What you’ll be doing**
- Working within the Young Parent Service, providing support to vulnerable young Parents and single young people.
- Working in a team with a strong understanding of the developmental needs of children, the challenges of parenting.
- Promote a vibrant culture with an uncompromising commitment to excellence, reflecting and responding to health and housing needs and fully integrating support packages that reflect the needs of those accessing the service.
- Working as a part of a multi-disciplinary team that works with young parents / Young people to identify and meet their personal, social, health, learning and work needs.
- Follow the lead from line management to ensure that all performance and contractual targets are met and exceeded and in line with OFSTED regulations.
