Location: Family home and local area/break location (e.g., cinema/park)
Hours of Work/Working Flexible: As and when required including Evenings, Weekends,
Sundays, Bank Holidays and School Holidays.
Pattern/Special arrangements e.g. Term
Time only:
1. Overall purpose of To provide support for Children/Young people with Disabilities,
Special/Additional Needs and/or Challenging Behaviour, in a the Job and its variety of settings to promote Independence, Learning, Life Skills, primary Objectives: Inclusion and Positive Behaviour.
2. Key Relationships**:Disabled Children and Young People**
- Parents/Carers
- Professionals who work with the Family/Mainstream
Service Providers
House.
3. Key Responsibilities **To Support Disabled Children/Young People ensuring their safety and well-being in the absence/presence of Parent/s and Duties: and Carer/s in the family home and/or Community.**
- To recognise and provide for each Child/Young Person’s individual developmental needs, intellectually, emotionally and socially; through activities within the home and community which are sensitive to the
Child/Young Person’s race, culture or orientation.
- To provide for the total physical needs of the Child/Young
Person including, if necessary, use of mobility and feeding aids/equipment or any other equipment they use,
(only after appropriate individual Training).
- Administration of Medicine, in accordance with that
Child/Young Person prescribed medication and care plan.
(Only after appropriate individual Training).
- To act in a medical Emergency, if necessary, in consultation with Parent/s and Carer/s or NHS Services
(only after appropriate First Aid Training).
- To provide practical and emotional support to child/
Young Person, empowering them to develop skills, building confidence and appropriate independence through consultation and inclusion of the Child/Young
Person’s views.
- To support a Child/Young Person’s communication skills by demonstrating effective communication skills including report/observation writing, verbal, non-verbal and advocacy awareness and following the individual care plans.
- To consult and involve the Child/Young Person in all decisions affecting him/her in whatever ways that are possible and appropriate.
- Empower the Child/Young Person to access play and leisure activities in their local/community areas and develop friendships and social networks in a safe way.
- To develop a positive relationship with the Child/Young
Person and their Parent/s and Carer/s and Significant others.
- To attend, if required, review meetings between the
Child/Young Person Parent/s and Carer/s and other professional bodies.
- To undertake additional Training as and when required both internal and external.
- To be familiar with and comply with ‘Spectrum WASP’ policies and guidelines i.e., child protection, equal opportunities, health & safety, and work to the standards required by the relevant bodies i.e., Commission for
Social Care.
- To undertake other duties at the request of the group co
- ordinator so far as they are compatible with the aims and level of responsibility to the post.
4. Working Context **To arrange own transport to and from the family home/short breaks location.**
- Must be able to travel in the local area and access a wide range of activities as required.
- Must be able to work flexibly to meet the requirements of the supported Child and Family and Spectrum 'WASP'.
**Job Type**: Zero hours contract
**Salary**: £11.00 per hour
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Mansfield, NG21 0HJ: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
**Education**:
- GCSE or equivalent (preferred)
**Experience**:
- Childcare: 1 year (preferred)
- Autism: 1 year (required)
Licence/Certification:
- NVQ Level 2 Health & Social Care (preferred)
