Customs Clearance Coordinator will oversee all inbound vehicle movements in line with a pre-advice of customer arrivals from all over Europe, supporting both Full load / Part load and lesser container load movements, covering a multitude of both port and ship operators all over of the UK. They will also be required to co-ordinate the customs clearance between the Customer and internal operations. This will involve the use of IT to interface with HMRC systems and monitor the clearance status of shipments.

They will provide release notifications to enable cargo to be delivered or held within the operational environment for all Import Deliveries. They will ensure that the necessary information is correctly updated to enable full HMRC entry documentation to be completed.

Reporting to the Operations Manager this role plays a pivotal role in ensuring customs compliance is maintained with the correct duties applied and deliveries cleared on entry to UK.

**Day-to-day**:

- Import Customs Clearances - CDS or Chief
- Export Customs Clearances
- NCTS Transit System T-Forms
- Using related software such as Destin8, Chief, NCTS, CNS, Descartes
- EMCS movements for Excise goods

**Must haves**:

- 3+ years experience in Imports & Exports
- A confident and approachable person
- A high level of organisation and attention to detail
- Experience in all matters Customs related
- Competent in using CDS and EMCS system
- Clear understanding of tariffs related to HS codes

**Main duties and responsibilities**:

- EU will require Customs Clearance to be processed before Transport can be arranged.
- Use of IT to interface with HMRC systems
- Monitor the clearance status of shipments
- Maintaining records in the internal system
- Chase and check for receipt of associated payments
- Confirm Client verification and authority status
- Co-ordinate the customs clearance between the relevant parties
- Receive and send authorities to their partner network
- Calculating Duty / VAT cost for each consignment
- Processing Import/Export declarations
- Keeping up to date with changes in regulations, laws and customs procedures
- Processing all customs documentation
- Dealing with general enquiries from importers / exporters concerning all areas, relating to Customs Procedures, Tariff Classifications and Duty Rates

**Qualifications**:

- 3+ years experience in Imports & Exports
- Educated to degree level

**Work Experience**:

- Must have relevant experience in a similar role or field.

**Other Skills: (Certification, Licenses and Registration)**
- Tenacious and determined with a proven track record in driving projects and objectives
- PC literate with strong proficiency in MS-Office
- Valid UK driving license
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English,
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight timescales, multi-tasking and prioritising as appropriate
