**Salary**:SCP 21, £21,427 pro rata, per annum

Our artist development programme provides local artists with the opportunities they need to develop a career in music. We support young people to make music in our building and in the wider community through programmes such as In Harmony Newcastle Gateshead.

**About you**

**You must have proven experience of**:

- Relevant professional experience of administrating and supporting the running of activities and/or educational programmes.

**Skills & knowledge of**:

- Safeguarding in education contexts;
- Good administrative skills and ability to manage own workload;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Skills and confidence in communicating with people from a diverse range of backgrounds;
- Effective problem-solving skills;
- Ability to work to deadlines;
- Able to remain calm and clear thinking under pressure;
- Good level of IT skills - including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

**The following qualities**:

- An interest in music and education;
- Responsive, flexible working style;
- Excellent initiative, resourcefulness;
- Commitment to teamwork and collaboration.

**It also helps if you have**:

- Experience of working in an arts setting;
- Practical knowledge of using Artifax, Tessitura and Exchequer software systems;
- Current Driving Licence;
- An understanding of different musical styles.

**Make Music: Young People**

Children and Young People are a top focus for Sage Gateshead across our programmes. We support musical progression from beginner to professional, creating pathways to advanced music learning in a broad range of classical and contemporary musical genres.

Opportunities are open to all, and everything is done to nurture children and young people and support them to fulfil their potential. To increase musical inclusion, we aim to understand and remove the barriers that children and young people experience.

Make Music: Young People includes three strands, which develop young people as musicians, producers, and leaders and supports Music Leaders:

- Young People: age 4 - 25 develop as musicians. This strand includes Foundation and Step Up programmes; our Centre for Advanced Training; ensembles including Young Sinfonia, Jambone and Folkestra; Making Tracks; Loud and Clear for care experienced children and their families; Music Spark for young people with additional needs; and Voices of the River’s Edge choir.
- Schools and Colleges: supporting music in schools through large scale performances and teacher training; and Level 2 and 3 music courses in partnership with Gateshead College; In Harmony Newcastle Gateshead, an immersive programme within two schools in the West End of Newcastle.
- Music Leaders: training in inclusive music practice for Music Leaders.

We work in collaboration with Music Hubs, Generator and other partners to develop young musicians and support personal, and social outcomes for children and young people in the North East.

**Make Music: Young People - Foundation, Step Up, CAT, Making Tracks & Ensembles**

Sage Gateshead’s Foundation, Step Up, CAT & Ensemble programmes[HF1] are a leading musical training programme for young people aged between 4 and 19. They support young musicians to develop the skills and confidence to reach their musical potential through world class specialist training, tuition, and inspirational opportunities to work with international visiting artists. Through these programmes, Sage Gateshead supports the development of young people’s musical and social skills, confidence, resilience and self-efficacy.
