**Business Growth Intern**

**Location: Reading /Crawley**

**Our opportunity**

To provide support to key stakeholders across the Business Growth community in a variety of tasks and projects. To grow knowledge and skills across the functions of the Business Growth community within Thales and demonstrate the learning.

**Key Responsibilities and Tasks**:
**Account Management, Sales & Capture**

Working with the Business Growth Function / Business leaders and Account Managers, you will be developing and supporting the growth of new business to generate potential sales with our customers, in both domestic and export markets. This will include:

- Networking and interfacing with Customers and Internal Stakeholders
- Working on and supporting competitive captures / bids
- Developing skills in how to determine the value for the customer in the Thales offer
- Developing skills in how to build high quality bid packs to achieve negotiating mandates from Thales senior management
- Growing your knowledge in how to produce high quality customer proposals

**Strategy & Marketing**

Working with the market analyst team and the senior management of the Strategy & Marketing community,
- To develop knowledge around how we analyse and understand Thales’ strengths and weaknesses against the competition in any of our markets
- To be involved with Innovating and generating new ideas to address our customer / stakeholder needs
- Growing your skills in co-ordinating, analysing, forecasting and reporting information to support a number of activities including bid and peer reviews for both domestic and export opportunities

**Communications & Government Relations**

Working with the internal and external communications teams, including media relations and public affairs, you will be
- Developing your understanding of how to support the CEO and senior management teams with strategic political advice
- Working with the editorial team to grow your knowledge of how to develop and distribute content through a variety of on and off line channels
- Working with the internal communications team to upskill in how to develop strategies to engage, involve and motivate employees to give their best.
- Participating and contributing in major customer events and shows, which could be in a variety of ways, from meeting and greeting UK and International delegations of customers, briefing the media, creating content, managing our profile across social media before, during and after the event, or helping to host senior political figures.
- Developing your network across a broad range of customers and stakeholders

**Volunteering**
- Undertake a number of volunteering activities during the year with your peer group

**Skills/Experience**

**Skills**
- Part Time / Volunteering work experience - desirable
- General business awareness
- Knowledge of Thales structure, markets and customers
- Fluent in English with excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to interact effectively, courteously and professionally with internal and external stakeholders fostering valuable relationships and developing networks
- Excellent collaboration skills across multiple Thales businesses and functions
- Driven and motivated to help generate and support new business ideas and solutions
- Customer-focused, ensuring accuracy and high quality
- Competent in using Microsoft Office Suite
