Job Purpose

The role of the Employment Mentoring and Support Officer will focus on developing a range of tailored interventions that will increase opportunities for young Children Looked After to take positive steps towards gaining employment and consider ILM/apprenticeship opportunities. This role will support the recruitment of CLA participants onto and ILM model and engage host employers, offering mentoring to the young people and guidance to potential employers to ensure high retention rates.

There needs to be strong relationships built with potential service users, Work Based Learning Providers and host employers based around trust, confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

Mentoring:
The Mentoring function will also actively assist and mentor the young people engaged to ensure their learning pathway and agreed goals are met thus bettering lives and reducing economic inactivity.

This is a busy and varied role, which will require use of proven skills and behaviors to provide robust and dedicated support to improve lives of those engaged.

A critical function of the role is to have an in depth knowledge of local services to be able to deal with and break down barriers that young people face.
