Full time (but there is some flexibility and 0.8 could potentially be offered)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Curriculum Leader to act as Head of Performing Arts and deliver the Music curriculum from KS3 through to KS5.

The Performing Arts Department is steadily growing, with groups of Drama and Music at GCSE, and Drama at A-Level, with our first cohort of musicians at A-Level this year. We have a good percentage uptake at GCSE (AQA) and KS3 students genuinely love the Arts. The KS3 curriculum has a strong focus on practical music making and performing, looking at a range of challenging and diverse musical styles. We currently have Chamber Choir, Orchestra, Guitar ensemble, KS3/4 Choir and Rock Band Club running in our extra-curricular programme and have a good proportion of students taking Peripatetic instrumental lessons, with the KS3 Drama Curriculum built around ensemble work, scripted, improvised and devised texts, and an equal balance across making, performing and analysing or reviewing.

Rugby High School is an 11-18 girls’ grammar school and we were judged good with outstanding behaviour and attitudes by Ofsted. The school has a large Sixth Form with 50% of students accepting places at Russell Group universities each year.

We offer a full induction programme for all staff, extensive professional development opportunities and a rich menu of extra-curricular activities. Applications are welcome from teachers at all stages in their career including those returning to teaching.
