RSR are currently recruiting for** RIPA Compliance Officer**

The RIPA Covert Authorities Bureau is responsible for the management of legislative covert authorities in support of SO15 Counter Terrorism investigations. Covert authorities relate to activities such as surveillance, undercover operations, registered informants and activity within prisons.

**Location**:London, South West

**Contract**: 6 month contract

**Work hours**: Full time

**Salary**: £450 to £561 per day

**Vacancies**:1

**Vetting Level**: DV Vetted - Must hold current live DV Vetting

**Main duties and responsibilities**
- Provide advice and guidance to applicants on RIPA 2000 and associated legislation, policies and case law
- Ensure applicants understand the requirements under RIPA, PACE, CPIA, ECHR
- Ensure all key deadlines are met to prevent any errors of RIPA, MPS and stakeholder policies
- Ensuring authority documentation is appropriately stored in line with STRAP/GSC
- Assisting in the preparation of management information reports surrounding authorities and wider performance reports to support Covert Functions Senior Leadership team
- Maintaining compliance to ensure SO15 are well positioned for yearly external inspections.
- Presentations to the Authorising Officers
- Utilise various computer systems and maintain a record of all SO15 CTC authority data
- Be responsible for developing in the role by being prepared and willing to attend various training opportunities
- Respond to Investigatory Powers Tribunal Directions.
- Deliver training on RIPA practices.
- Any other duties as directed by the head of unit
- Support health & well-being initiatives in the workplace

**Essential**
- Previous experience in covert policing or covert authorities or an ability to learn new legislative concepts is advantageous.

**Desirable**
- Experience of covert operational activity
- Knowledge of RIPA Part II legislation surrounding Directed / Intrusive Surveillance and CHIS
- Experience of CTC investigations
- Knowledge of IPA Part V legislation surrounding Equipment Interference
- Knowledge of OPT guidance surrounding Prisons
- Understanding of RIPA, PACE, CPIA, ECHR
- Experience working with the following IT platforms: National Secure Network (NSN), National Charter Management Application (NCMA), Met Police Authorities Applications (MPCA)
- Whilst a background in any of the above criteria is advantageous, you will receive on-the-job training.
