Job Summary:

Join the dynamic team at SO15 Counter Terrorism Command for the Metropolitan Police Service and be part of the changing landscape of service.

As a Compliance Officer, you will play a vital role in making London the safest global city amidst the unprecedented transformation happening within the UK's largest Police Service.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the management of legislative covert authorities in support of SO15 Counter Terrorism investigations.


Key Tasks:
As a Compliance Officer in the RIPA Covert Authorities Bureau Unit, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing advice and guidance to applicants on RIPA 2000 and associated legislation, policies, and case law.
  • Ensuring compliance with Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000, PACE, CPIA, and ECHR.
  • Meeting key deadlines and maintaining proper storage of authority documentation.
  • Assisting in the preparation of management information reports and performance reports.
  • Collaborating with Authorising Officers, utilizing various computer systems, and maintaining authority data records.
  • Delivering training on RIPA practices and responding to Investigatory Powers Tribunal Directions.
  • Supporting health and wellbeing initiatives in the workplace.
  • Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Excel, CRIMINT, and bespoke IT platforms.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and pay attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to articulate key concepts to stakeholders.
  • Collaborative mindset, working effectively as part of a small team.
  • Confidence in liaising with officers, staff at all levels, and external stakeholders.
  • Eagerness to attend training opportunities to further develop in the role.

Desirable Skills:
The following skills are desirable but not essential for the role:

  • Experience in covert operational activity and CTC investigations.
  • Familiarity with RIPA Part II legislation, IPA Part V legislation, and OPT guidance.
  • Understanding of RIPA, PACE, CPIA, and ECHR.
  • Experience working with IT platforms such as National Secure Network (NSN), National Charter Management Application (NCMA), and Met Police Authorities Applications (MPCA).
