Takes responsibility for the shift and for the service while on duty;
- Responds to emergencies and provides guidance and support to care workers;
- Assists and enables service users to dress, undress, wash, use the toilet and bathe;
- Serves meals to service users at the table or in bed, assists with feeding if required;
- Generally, assists with service users’ overall comfort and well-being;
- Provides interest and activities to stimulate and engage the service user;
- Helps with daily activities such as letter writing, paying bills, collecting benefits;
- Undertakes light cleaning and domestic duties including meal preparation as required;
- Attends meetings and training as required;
- Shares the responsibility for creating a pleasant working environment;
- To be flexible in hours of work in order to meet tasks required;
- To be aware of Health and Safety regulations particularly as related to the upkeep of the

building and its surroundings;
- To undertake any other duties that may be reasonably requested;
- To safeguard and promote the welfare of individuals and be aware of relevant policies and

procedures.4.9. Experience and skills:

- Ability to listen, communicate clearly and build positive working relationships with

individuals, their families, other social and healthcare professionals and team members
- Ability to give care and support to customers with aspects of their daily living in a manner

that respects their dignity, is non-judgmental and promotes their independence, choicesand privacy.
- Good organisational skills, so individuals receive the services they expect.
- Ability to use own initiative and work as part of a team, especially in an emergency.
- Numerical skills to support customers in managing their money and buying shopping or

paying bills when requested to do so.
- Ability to keep written records in clear English about the care and support given to each

individual, including help with medicines.
- Ability and willingness to follow Sedgemoor Serenity Services policies, procedures and

instructions.4.10. Additional requirements:

- Commitment to respecting individuals’ rights at all times including their rights to privacy,

dignity and independence.
- Willingness to undertake training. All staff are expected to meet regulatory training

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

**Salary**: £11.00-£14.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
