**Youth Support Worker - Nights**

**Location: Weymouth**
**Salary: 24,292 ** **annual earnings based on 35 hours (**including night allowance)**

**Contract Type: Permanent, 35 hours per week. **Will consider a job share or part time hours**.

**Essential Requirements**

The ideal **Youth Support Worker** will:

- An understanding of the needs and issues of homeless, vulnerable young people.
- Knowledge of Homelessness legislation, and welfare benefits/welfare reform
- Knowledge of Safeguarding for Children and Adults and Domestic Abuse.
- Experience of problem solving and handling difficult situations, using initiative.
- Experience of risk management, needs led assessment and support planning
- Knowledge of diversity and inclusion
- Skilled at IT including excel, power point, publisher, word, face book and other forms of social media.
- Able to work evenings, weekends, sleeping nights, waking nights and able to change hours if required. Prepared to work across other services in the cluster if required
- Able to stay on in an emergency.

**The Role**
- I work with young people to build a trusting relationship based on an equal and reciprocal relationships in which we recognize and build on each others skills and strengths.
- I work with young people to help them participate in an agreed life skills programme, which will provide them with the living skills you need to live independently.*
- I liaise with any statutory or voluntary agency that enable young people to reach goals of living independently and personal development, where appropriate. *
- I listen to the wishes of young people and be guided by them on how they wish to develop themselves and the service.*
- I will act as an advocate, or enable young people to self-advocate, in the resolution of problems that have negative impacts on the stability of their housing.*
- I liaise with other agencies and individuals as appropriate, on behalf of young people to ensure a co-ordinated approach in the support for each person*
- I help young people to understand and manage a tenancy or occupancy agreement.*
- I will agree with young people how to manage risk, within the boundaries of the YOU standards, Health and Safety, Fire procedures. *
- I will take appropriate action in emergencies including the calling of emergency services ensuring risks are managed and all incident reports are completed.*
- I will ensure cleaning and security duties are carried out in accordance with instructions, priorities and service standards.*
- I complete CAADA DASH RIC (Co-ordinated Action Against Domestic Abuse. Domestic Abuse, Stalking and Harassment Risk Indicator Checklist) every time Domestic Abuse is identified in line with Dorset Domestic Abuse Strategy.*
